Last Updated: 22/05/2025

This Privacy Policy explains how Acadex ("the App") handles information on your device. By using Acadex, you ("the User") agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. User Data and Privacy

We collect limited information about how you use Acadex, such as general interaction patterns, to help us improve your experience. This does not include any content you create, such as notes, documents, or coursework.

  • We do not collect personal details like your name, email address, or exact location. The data we collect is pseudonymous and cannot directly identify you. It may include a randomly generated user ID and an approximate region.
  • We use the Mixpanel SDK to understand how the app is used, which features are most helpful, and where we can improve. This data is used strictly for product improvement, not for advertising or profiling. Mixpanel's privacy policy is available at https://mixpanel.com/legal/privacy-policy.
  • For users in the UK and EU, we comply with GDPR and UK GDPR regulations. By using the app, you agree to the collection and use of non‑identifying analytics data as described in this policy. You can withdraw your consent or disable analytics at any time from the app's privacy settings page.
  • We do not collect or use advertising identifiers such as IDFA, and we do not collect any data for advertising or marketing purposes.
  • All content you create within Acadex (such as notes, tasks, and coursework) stays entirely on your device. We do not access, collect, or transmit this information, and it is never sent to our servers.

2. Local Data and Data Loss

  • Local Storage: All data is stored locally on your device only. There is no backup to any cloud service, including iCloud.
  • Data Loss: If the App is uninstalled, all stored data may be permanently lost.
  • User Responsibility: It is the User's responsibility to back up or export any important data manually, as Acadex does not provide cloud backups or recovery options.
  • Disclaimer: Acadex and its developers are not responsible for any loss of data, device malfunctions, or software conflicts that may occur. While every effort is made to ensure the App's reliability, no software is completely free of bugs.

3. Software Updates and Feature Changes

Acadex may receive updates over time that could:

  • Introduce new features or remove existing ones.
  • Modify the operation of the App.
  • Affect how premium features and subscriptions work.

Acadex reserves the right to modify, update, or discontinue any aspect of the App at any time. Users will be notified of major changes affecting privacy, pricing, or functionality through in‑app notifications or official communication channels.

4. Premium Features and Subscriptions

  • Premium Features: Certain features of Acadex are available through a monthly or yearly subscription.
  • Pricing and Terms: The pricing and features included in the premium subscription may change over time.
  • Auto‑Renewal & Cancellation: Premium subscriptions are billed automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date. Users can manage their subscriptions through their respective app store or device settings.

  • User Agreement: Continued use of premium features constitutes acceptance of any changes to pricing or functionality.

5. Children's Privacy

Acadex is not intended for children under 13. If you are under 13, you may only use this App with parental consent, in accordance with applicable laws such as COPPA (U.S.) and GDPR‑K (EU). We do not knowingly collect or process any personal data from children.

6. Third‑Party Libraries and Services

Acadex uses limited third‑party services to help us improve the app. Specifically, we use the Mixpanel SDK to collect non‑identifying usage data such as feature engagement and navigation patterns. No personal information such as names or emails is collected, and no data is used for marketing purposes.

You can disable usage analytics at any time in the app’s privacy settings.

All other processing occurs locally on your device. Your content is never shared, and no third parties have access to your private data.

This Privacy Policy is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United Kingdom.

Any disputes shall be resolved in accordance with UK law. If a dispute arises, you agree to first attempt to resolve it informally by contacting us. If unresolved, disputes may be subject to mediation or arbitration before pursuing legal action.
